Since I find Pinterest to be loathsome and don't have any better alternative, I'll just start running blog posts of links of interest. This one everything space-related.

https://everydayastronaut.com/rocket-engine-cycles/ is a good rundown of the various kinds of rocket engines, what the trade-offs are, and where each of them has found use. Only thing missing is years on the various rockets mentioned.

My Ikea Hack Workbench

I needed a new workbench. One where my printer could live, where tools and spare parts could be organized, but also where the work surface wouldn't get cluttered or take too much of the space in my room. I started looking around at secretaries and similar, which have the right concept, but never the right size. Eventually I realized I had to do it myself. These are my notes. I used an IKEA Hemnes side table, two Hemnes night stands, and the top part of the two-part Hemnes writing desk. The two night stands on top of the side table, and the writing desk part on top of them, like the cross slab of a megalith, done in wood plank furniture. That part was simple enough, except I didn't want the gaps under the night stands, so I cut a bit of the logs, but cut too much, so now I need to fill some gaps. Pebernødder, first try

Going further on my quixotic quest for a low-carb flour replacement, this time I threw myself at a classic Danish Christmas delicacy: Pebernødder (pepper nuts). These are traditionally made not to sit in a tin, but to be put in braided paper hearts and hung on the Christmas tree (next to the live candles) for all to nosh on as they please. This is my mother's recipe: 500 g flour 1 tsp ammonium carbonate ("salt of hartshorn" or "baker's ammonium") 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp cardamom 1 tsp pepper 125 g butter 250 g sugar 2 eggs Zest of 1 lemon Mix dry ingredients, blend in the butter, then add the eggs. If the dough is dry, add a bit of oil (just not olive oil). Let stand in the fridge for at least an hour, then roll into 1cm-thick sticks, cut into short pieces, and bake at 200C for 8-10 minutes.
